We are proud to announce that one of our first employees returned to Xomnia. Jayke’s road back to Xomnia is very different from others, read his story in this blog!
Jayke’s Journey
“After my part-time position as a Big Data Engineer at Xomnia I had several different jobs. First I worked a job in the data industry where I mostly developed myself as a Software Engineer, which resulted in me gaining a deeper understanding of software such as Python, Linux, and concepts and technologies such as APIs. However, aside from these technological skills, I missed the wider perspective of development in soft skills.
During that job, I had also started a completely different adventure next to my job as a Software Engineer, I became a ski instructor in Austria. During this job, I got to know a lot of people, learned how to motivate people and how to communicate with all kinds of different people. Although I do still love being a ski instructor I felt that next to working the need to further develop myself in the field of data science.
Because of my previous work experience, I noticed that I have the necessary social skills for this field of work and can communicate my ideas easily with others. Xomnia always kept in touch and recently invited me to come to the office again after a Facebook comment I posted. The spark between me and my ex-colleagues was back right away and both Xomnia and I had a good feeling after the reunification. After some more meetings, I thought to myself “If I want to develop myself in data science and use my social skills why not work for Xomnia?”.
One of the main reasons I joined Xomnia, next to the reason that I already worked at Xomnia before, is that they give me the opportunity to develop myself and join any training I want. In addition, what distinguishes Xomnia from the rest is that it has a young and fun vibe. The vibe of Xomnia will most definitely not be 100% the same as old times but I think, even though Xomnia has grown a lot, the company still has kept most of its cozy and fun ambiance.
To conclude, in 5 years, I would like to do projects where I can give back to humanity with the help of Big Data and I think a job at Xomnia gives me the opportunity to get closer to this goal.
